Karachi: Warrants issued in Quaid Mazaar rape case
KARACHI: Bailable warrants were issued for the arrests of the complainant, the Investigating Officer (IO) and other prosecution witnesses were issued for December 15 by Additional District and Sessions Judge East Sanaullah Khan Ghouri on Saturday. The accused, Khadim Hussain, Raja Arif and Arif Ansari and security and other officials at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam were present before the court on Saturday. The case pertained to the alleged gang rape of R, a newlywed girl who came to pay homage to the father of the nation in her visit to Karachi along with her family.
The prosecution alleges that she fell unconscious after someone put a wet cloth, presumably dabbed with chloroform, over her nose. She was taken to a room that looked like a store where she was gang raped in a semiconscious condition. After a nightlong search, the police found her in bad shape outside one of the main gates of the mausoleum. R identified her rapists at an identification parade before the trial court.
When the case came up for hearing on Saturday, the complainant, IO and other prosecution witnesses were found to be absent, after which the court issued warrants through the SSP East for December 15.
