Karachi: 13 bandits arrested in different encounters
KARACHI: During different operations on Saturday, the police recovered abducted children and arrested 13 bandits, including two women, with looted money and weapons. The operations were conducted by the Anti–Violence Crime Cell (AVCC), special investigation team-east and the Kulray Police. In a press conference held at the Garden Police Station, AVCC SSP Farooq Awan revealed that four bandits, including two women, were arrested and ransom money and weapons were found in their possession. With the help of her maid Samreen, the culprits kidnapped Rabia, 2, daughter of a garment factory owner in Bahadurabad on November 24 and demanded a ransom for her release.
They made a demand of Rs 20 million but finally agreed on Rs 2 million and after receiving the ransom money, they left Rabia at the Holy Family Hospital. The police continued their investigation and arrested the main culprits Sohail and Javed after an encounter in Boat Basin. They also recovered two pistols and money. In another operation, police officials recovered Safiullah, 6, from a gang led by Amjad. At Mauripur Road, four bandits were seen looting shopkeepers. The police arrived at the scene and after an exchange of fire, managed to arrest four culprits including Sajid, Fazal Husain, Ahmed and Asadullah and recovered two stolen vehicles and three pistols from their possession.
The Special Investigation Team-East also arrested two culprits Jameel alias Jimmy and Rizwan alias Don after an encounter in PIB. The culprits killed a scrap dealer three months ago.
