Karachi: 2 kidnapped children recovered
KARACHI: The staff of Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and the CPLC, in a joint operation, arrested seven suspects including two maids and got freed two kidnapped children besides recovering weapons and Rs2 million cash from their possession. Addressing a press conference, SSP AVCC Farooq Awan along with deputy chief CPLC Shaukat Suleman said that a gang of criminals was involved in kidnapping the children of businessmen for ransom in connivance with house servants. SSP Awan said that the gang had kidnapped two–year–old Rabia, daughter of a garment factory owner Yahya from Bahadurabad on November 24 in connivance with a housemaid Samreen. According to plan, the maid brought the child out of the house and handed her over to the criminals and later she returned to the home and told Rabia’s parents that she was kidnapped by some persons riding a black car.
She further told them that the kidnappers had demanded Rs2 million in ransom for Rabia’s release and gave a cell phone number and a letter of the kidnappers.
After conversation between Rabia’s father with the kidnappers on their given phone number, Yahya gave them Rs2 million in ransom in Ranchore Lane area on November 26 following which Rabia was freed near Holy Family Hospital.
However, Anti–Violent Crime Cell traced the criminals and arrested them in an encounter in Boat Basin area. During interrogation, they revealed that they had kidnapped the girl in connivance with housemaid Samreen and her aunt Yasmin. Later, the police arrested Samreen and Yasmeen from Mohajir Camp as well as the main kidnapper Sohail and his accomplice Javed.
In another operation, the police arrested a suspect Amjad and his two accomplices from Mominabad area and got freed six–year–old Safiullah, son of Baroman Khan. The child was kidnapped for ransom on October 24.
