Peshawar: Laboratary sealed, quack booked
PESHAWAR: NWFP Health Regulatory Authority (HRA) on Saturday sealed a laboratory and handed over a quack to the police for producing fake Hepatitis-C reports and providing spurious injection to hepatitis patients. According to an official statement, a team of HRA, headed by Capt Dr Ahmad Ali inspected Orakzai Welfare Laboratory at Mushtaqabad Chowk on a tip-off that it was involved in providing spurious injection to patients suffering from hepatitis C.
During inspection, the team recovered 84 filled and 100 empty spurious injections of hepatitis C besides fake reports of hepatitis C and B. It was also found that lab owner Hazrat Khan did not have an MBBS degree while he added ‘doctor’ with his name.
The team revealed that Khan was actually a lab assistant but claimed to be an MBBS doctor at the Government City Hospital.
The lab was sealed and Khan was handed over to Bana Mari Police Station for further investigation. HRA told the people to stay aware of quacks and spurious medicines.
