Rawalpindi: Man opens fire on ex-fiancee in LHC premises
RAWALPINDI: A 21-year-old woman, Rizwana Bibi, was wounded by her ex–fiance in the premises of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi Bench, here on Wednesday when she was leaving after attending hearing in a case regarding quashment of an FIR registered against her husband with the Kalar Syedan Police Station. Ashfaq and Rizwana claimed to be legally married. However the police report presented before the court of Justice M A Zafar stated that the ‘nikahnama’ which was documented in Bhakkar was fake. Rizwana’s brother got registered an FIR against Ashfaq and his family with the Kalar Syedan Police Station on September 8 under Section 365-B, accusing him of kidnapping his sister. Both Ashfaq and Rizwana were arrested by police and produced before the court. Ashfaq and Rizwana claimed that they were legally married and the court let the couple go free.
Later the couple got registered a writ petition in the LHC, seeking quashment of the FIR registered against Ashfaq with the Kalar Syedan Police Station.
On Wednesday, Rizwana Bibi recorded her statement before the court of Justice M A Zafar in the case. The court adjourned hearing in the petition till December 12.
When Rizwana was coming out of the court, her ex-fiancÈ Ghulam Hussain opened fire on her. She sustained bullet injuries on head, lungs, and belly and on one leg. Police arrested Ghulam Hussain and admitted Rizwana Bibi to the hospital in critical condition.
Meanwhile, in another case Justice Muhammad Ahsan Bhon of the LHC directed Aftab, a resident of Taxila, to provide expenses to his wife and children.
