Lahore: Double Shah’s daughter granted bail
LAHORE: An accountability bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday granted bail to the daughter of Sibtul Hassan Shah, aka Double Shah, in a financial scam case. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested Shah’s daughter, Iffat Gillani, for investigations into the financial scam. According to the NAB, Iffat, an MEd student, was in-charge of the women cell of Shah’s “illegal business”. Iffat’s lawyer Aftab Bajwa argued that Iffat was arrested 16 months after the arrest of her father, without any direct or indirect evidence against her.
He said that Iffat’s arrest was not just as her father had stated before a court that he was willing to return the money of genuine depositors. When the court asked the NAB prosecutors to tell if Iffat was in possession of property or bank account, their reply was in the negative. The prosecutors informed the court that Iffat faced another reference, which was in the process of completion. The court allowed Iffat’s bail, subject to 10 million bail bonds.
