Peshawar: Guard killed, 95 tola gold stolen
PESHAWAR: Some unknown persons killed a security guard in Sarafa Bazaar and robbed around 95 tola gold from a shop here on Thursday. The robbers managed to get into Katra Karam Chand Market in Sarafa Bazaar and strangulated the guard Taj Mohammad, son Fida Mohammad, resident of Ramdas Bazaar. They broke into the shop of Fazlur Rehman, son of Kasab Din, located on 3rd floor of the building and took away around 95 tola gold. The shop owner told Daily Times that when he came to his shop in the morning, he found locks of his shop broken and the gold and Rs 5,000 in cash stolen.
He said most of the gold belonged to people of Dir district and Bajaur Agency, who had given it to him for making ornaments from it.
Vice president of the market Mohammad Rafiq said that it was not clear that how they (robbers) managed to get in, adding that may be they had stayed inside at night as main gate of the market remained closed during nights.
He said that when they arrived in the market in the morning, the main gate was open and the guard was found murdered on the first floor.
