Lahore: Millions stolen in 257 robbery incidents last week
LAHORE: Despite over 228 fixed pickets on different main roads of the city, millions of rupees worth of valuables have been stolen in 257 successful incidents of robbery, whith one man dead and 15 people, including five women, injured over the last week, said police sources on Sunday. The sources said that criminals had made the lives of citizens miserable, despite numerous patrolling police vehicles and the installation of pickets. They said police officials claim to be a necessary part of their strategy to curb crime, adding that they considered it to be a major part of detecting criminals and a serious barrier in their movement.
Some major incident, which took place in the last week were: in Nishter Colony, robbers looted valuables worth about Rs 500,000, from the house of Shafee; valuables worth about Rs 200,000 from a house of Faiz Bhatti in Hadyara area; valuables worth Rs. 2 million from the house of Imran in Garden Town; valuables worth about Rs 100,000 from the house of Ali Hussain in Green Town; valuables worth Rs 200,000 from the house of Shahzad in Nawankot; valuables worth Rs 50,000 from the house of Irfan in Johar Town; valuables worth Rs 10 million from the house of Sufiyan in Shahdara; valuables worth Rs 2.8 million from the house of Shahnaz in Shahdara Town area; Rs 5 million in cash from the house of Riffat in Model Town area; valuables worth Rs 200,000 from the house of Haider in Gujjarpura; valuables worth Rs 400,000 from the house of Fahad Malik in Chuhang Area; valuables worth Rs 500,000 from the house of Kashif in Shadbagh; valuables worth Rs 250,000 from the house of Mehmood Elahi in Harbanspura; valuables worth Rs 1.2 million from the house of Nazir Ahmed in Chungi Amer Sidhu Area; valuables worth Rs 600,000 from the house of Mubarik in Sattukatla; valuables worth Rs 200,000 from the house of Muhammad Ali in Shahdara Town; valuables worth Rs 400,000 from the house of Wilayat in Harbanspura; valuables worth Rs 700,000 from the house of Afzal Butt in Johar Town; valuables worth Rs 500,000 from the house of Waleed in Green Town.
