Rawalpindi: 10 POs among 22 arrested
RAWALPINDI: The local police arrested 10 proclaimed offenders (POs), 19 court absconders and three military deserters during first two days of Eidul Azha. According to a press statement issued on Thursday, City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal directed all the superintendents of police and sub–divisional police officers to crack down on criminals, who slipped away after commission. In compliance with the orders, City Police arrested three POs, Pirwadhai Police one PO and two court absconders, Banni Police three POs and four court absconders, Waris Khan Police four court absconders, Sadiqabad Police three POs and five court absconders, New Town Police four court absconders and three military deserters.
The CPO appreciated performance of the police, saying drive against outlaws should continue to apprehend them and clear the city of crimes.
Suspensions: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Khan Durrani on Thursday issued show case notices to an assistant sub–inspector (ASI) and two constables of Rawalpindi district and suspended them on charge of getting mixed up with criminals and backing them to run their business.
A spokesman for the police told Daily Times that the RPO suspended ASI Shabbir Hussain Shah and constables Mehmood Hussain Shah and lqrar Haider Shah besides transferring them to Police Lines.
He said the senior superintendent of police, Investigation Branch, had been directed to investigate the policemen’s conduct.
Durrani also suspended SI Muhammad Khan for allegedly shielding his three real brothers involved in a murder case.
Muhammad Younas, a resident of Miani, Chakwal, filed a complaint with the RPO and accused the SI of providing shelter to the accused who were his real brothers. Khan was also summoned, who confessed to giving protection to his brothers and distracting their arrest.
