Karachi: Robbers jailed for 4 years
KARACHI: An additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday sentenced two men to four years in prison for robbery. Mohammad Kashif and Mohammad Arshad were found guilty of committing the robbery in a jewellery shop in Peerabad police limits in March 2007. ADJ (west) Manther Ali Jatoi pronounced his verdict after recording the final arguments of defence and prosecution counsel. The court also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on each convict and in case of default they would serve an additional imprisonment of six months. The court in its judgment observed that the prosecution had produced ample evidence that proved its case beyond any shadow of doubt.
According to the prosecution, the accused had forcefully entered the shop of Mohammad Sadiq alias Mohammad Arshad in Peerabad area on March 20, 2007. They took him at gunpoint and after collecting valuables managed to escape.
Later, the police arrested two suspects for possessing unlicensed weapons and during interrogations they confessed to having committed the robbery in the jeweller`s shop.
A case (FIR 91/07) was registered against the accused under Section 393 and 397/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Peerabad police station on the complaint of Mohammad Sadiq.
The convicts were already in custody and remanded back to the prison to serve their sentence.
