Karachi: Teenagers held in family murder case
KARACHI: Police have arrested two young friends on Tuesday for their involvement in a family murder case within the jurisdiction of Khawaja Ajmair Nagri Police Station. An illicit relationship was the cause of the murder. The deceased Seema, 35, her children Saima, 8, Usama, 6 and Rimsha alias Munni, 4 were found dead from their house situated in Sector 5A–4, North Karachi on December 12. The victims’ throats were slit using daggers after they were tortured and an FIR, no 343/08, was registered. Jamil Ahmed, the woman’s husband had found his family dead when he had arrived at the house from work at a local cement factory and then informed the police. The victims were supposedly killed right before Ahmed had arrived at the house.
“We have solved the case within four days,” New Karachi Town SP Dr Mohammad Farooq Ahmed, adding that the accused, Zubair, 18 and his friend Nabeel, 19, are residents of the same area.
Farooq said that during the initial course of interrogation, both the youths confessed to their crime. Zubair had aimed to kill Jamil because Jamil had an illicit relationship with his mother, Shabnam, the SP said. Zubair is also the brother-in-law of Sheraz, Jamil’s tenant.
“Sheraz was also on the suspect list and was also included in the investigation,” said the SP. Having tea at a local bistro, the culprits had made the plan to kill Jamil two days before the incident occurred. Nabeel cooperated with his friend because he wanted money, as he needed it for his uncle’s marriage.
“We did not have any intension of killing his family,” said the culprits. “We killed them because all of them knew us and it would be risky for us if we had not killed them.”
The young culprits further disclosed that they displaced the stuff in the house to make it look like a robbery. “We also tried to show the involvement of Sheraz in the murders and, therefore, his clothes were also displaced,” they confessed.
They killed two children in a room on the first floor first, then killed Jamil’s wife and daughter on the ground floor and fled with some gold.
