Karachi: Woman killed
KARACHI: The body of 18-year-old Shumaila was found from Mominabad police limits. Police suspect that the deceased had been hanged to death by her husband, Akram, who has been arrested. A case was lodged on the complaint of the deceased girl’s father, Chaudhry M Ali. According to details of the case, Shumaila and her husband had been involved in domestic disputes in the past, while relations between Shumaila and her in-laws were acerbic. After another domestic dispute, she had gone back to her parent’s house and had only returned to Akram’s house two months ago. On Friday afternoon, the deceased’s father received a call from Akram, who claimed that Shumaila had died. Ali, along with his family, went to Akram’s house where he found body of his daughter lying on the floor.
Suspecting foul play, he immediately called the police who took Akram and members of his family into custody. During examination of Shumaila’s body, the doctors pronounced that the deceased was hanged to death with the help of a rope, as marks of ropes were clearly visible around the neck of deceased girl while the foetus in her womb was also dead.
In another case, Devi, aged 37, was strangled to death by her neighbour, in a dispute over gold. The police said that the incident was reported in a compound situated in Gulshan-i-Hadeed and two women, Rameela and Devi Prem, were arrested in the case.
