Gang leader held in Mansehra
MANSEHRA: Police arrested ringleader of an inter-provincial gang of robbers, and recovered cash and important documents from his possession, it was officially learnt. District Police Officer Akhtar Hayat Khan, while speaking at a press conference at Shinkiary police station on Saturday said that the ringleader of the gang, Kamran Khan resident of BarinGalli area of Abbottabad was wanted by the police in various cases of heinous nature. The DPO said that on December 16, the gang looted traders near New Balakot City at gunpoint and fled from the scene.
He said that Shinkiary police after three days of hectic efforts and raids apprehended Kamran and further raids were continuing to apprehend the rest of the gangsters.
The DPO said that the police had recovered cash amounting Rs16,000 and important documents from his possession, but further information regarding the arrested ringleader and documents were not being disclosed for some reason.
Replying to a question, Mr Khan said that the district police was striving hard to apprehend those involved in heinous crimes and operation was underway at the level of various police station.
The DPO said that there was less crime in the district as compared to other districts in the province and police was still striving hard to further bring down the crime ratio here.
He said that like the district administration, the district police had also chalked out its own strategy and finalised its programme to maintain peace during Muharramul Haram.
The DPO said that the Afghan refugees would be restricted to their camps and entry of certain ulema had also been banned in the district.
