Lahore: Abduction for ransom: Case registered against 6, including 2 CIA officials
LAHORE: The Chuhng police on Tuesday registered a case against six people including two Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) constables for abducting an arms dealer. The police have arrested one of the constables and started interrogation. A source in the police said six robbers had abducted Iftikhar and asked him to give them Rs 1 million as ransom for his release. Iftikhar’s son, however, got his father released for Rs 50,000. Iftikhar memorised the registration number (LEY-6251-08) of the abductors’ motorcycle. A few days later he saw the motorcycle at the Ichhra police station and informed the police. The police came to know that the motorcycle belonged to two CIA constables, Abdul Hameed and Kamran. They arrested Hameed and registered a case against him and his five accomplices.
Saddar Division SP (Investigations) Ahmed Nasir Aziz Virk said that they were interrogating the constable and would arrest his accomplices soon. CIA SP Umer Virk said that he had no information about the involvement of the CIA officials in the abduction. However, he said that if the officials were found guilty, he would take stern action against them. He said that he would also issue show-cause notices to the officials involved in the incident.
