Islamabad: Huge quantity of explosives seized
ISLAMABAD: The security agencies seized huge quantity of explosives with detonators and detained two persons hailing from Gilgit and PindiGhaib Tuesday evening, police sources said. The explosives weighing about 800 kilograms with 250 detonators were being transported to Taxila. Police intercepted two mini-tankers bearing registration numbers H-7403-NWFP and E-491-NWFP while passing through Kirpa, an outskirt of Islamabad and found explosive material and detonators, the sources said. Police said the drivers, violating the route, adopted Kirpa Road as a shortcut.
The explosive material belonged to an oil exploration company of China – BJT Oil and Gas Exploration Company – and being transported to Taxila, police said.
The police shifted the explosive carrying vehicles to police station for investigation and detained both the drivers, the sources added.
The police investigators said the drivers were keeping photocopies of permits for transporting explosive material, adding that the investigators have summoned the officials of the company for verification of the permits.
