Rawalpindi: Aabpara police station arms theft case: SHO gets bail, remand of 9 cops extended
RAWALPINDI: Special Judge Central Shaukat Ali Sajid on Wednesday granted bail to a police inspector and extended the remand of nine other officials suspended for their alleged involvement in theft of arms from the armoury of Aabpara Police Station. The stolen arms had been seized during the military operation against the “militants” holed up in Lal Masjid in July last year. The court granted bail to Inspector NaeemIqbal, who was Aabpara Station House Officer (SHO) at the time of theft of arms, and extended the remand of assistant sub–inspectors (ASIs) Shan Muhammad, Shabbir Ahmad, Rafiullah and Maqsood Ahmad, head constable Muhammad Fayaz and constables Tariq, Samiullah, Muhammad Irshad and Muhammad Idrees to five days.
The accused were presented before the court after expiry of their two–day physical remand. Investigation officer (IO) sought extension in the remand of the accused for further questioning. The judge extended their remand and directed their production in the court on December 28.
