Rawalpindi: Kidnappers arrested, robbers’ gang busted
RAWALPINDI: Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) had arrested three alleged kidnappers who released a kidnapped 11-year-old child after taking Rs 0.5 million ransom, he said, claiming that that the police had also recovered some of the ransom money from them. He said Muhammad Faisal, Mehbobul Hassan and Muhammad Khalil had allegedly kidnapped Abdul Wahab, a Class 4 student, from the limits of Banni Police Station on December 4 while he was going to a tuition centre.
He said the kidnappers demanded Rs 5 million at first from father Haji Tariq but latter they settled for Rs 0.5 million, threatening to kill the child if the case went to police. Boy’s uncle Ejaz Ahamd paid the ransom at Wah Garden and got the child back, following which a police traced the kidnappers through their mobile phone calls, he said.
The CPO said preliminary investigation had revealed that the alleged kidnappers had also been involved in mobile and purse snatching cases.
