Rawalpindi: Physical remand of Lal Masjid weapons theft accused extended
RAWALPINDI: Special Judge (Central) Shaukat Ali Sajid on Monday extended for seven days physical remand of Aabpara Police Station’s nine former officials in the Lal Masjid weapon theft case. The judge is trying ASIs Shan Muhammad, Shabbir Ahmad, Rafiullah and Maqsood Ahmad; Head Constable Fayyaz, and constables Tariq, Samiullah, Irshad and Idrees for theft of arms seized during Lal Masjid operation. The policemen were produced before the court at the expiry of five days physical remand. The investigation officer sought extension in the remand for further investigation.
The court accepted the plea and granted police the policemen’s physical remand of seven more days and ordered their production on January 5. During the last hearing, the court had granted bail to Aabpara Police Station SHO NaeemIqbal, who was also booked in the case for negligence.
