Rawalpindi: Student recovered, 6 kidnappers held
RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Police Monday recovered EhsenNaveed, a kidnapped for ransom BSc student, from Defence Housing Authority arresting six people involved in the plot. City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal while addressing a press conference said that captors had demanded Rs20 million for release of the kidnapped student. He said the gang had links with criminals in Afghanistan and they wanted to traffic him to Afghanistan. The CPO said that NaveedIqbal of New Lalazar, Rawalpindi, on December 21 had lodged a complaint with the Civil Lines Police that his son EhsenNaveed, a BSc student in Roots School, after attending a marriage ceremony had informed him that he was coming home but didn’t reach till morning. His father received a call from the captors who demanded Rs20 million for the safe release of Ehsen.
Upon receiving complaint, the police team tracing the position of captors, conducted raid at a hideout in Baqar Colony near Dhamial Base and recovered the kidnapped young man safely and arrested one of the captors identified as Amar Jadoon, son of Abdul Maalik, resident of AhataKaramIlahi, Gawalmandi, Rawalpindi, he said.
The CPO said that during the preliminary investigation, the suspect disclosed the names of his aides – Muhammad Fayyaz, son of Muhammad Sadaqar (Budhu, WahCantt), AmjadMehmood, son of Muhammad Safdar, (Gohdu, WahCantt), TahirMehmood, son of Khushaal Khan (GarhiAfghana, WahCantt), SaeedAkhtar, son of Muhammad Sarwar (Gohda, WahCantt.) and Muhammad Kashif, son of Noor Muhammad (Iqbal Town, Lahore) – who were hunted down from different areas of Wah and Rawalpindi.
The CPO said that Muhammad Fayyaz and Muhammad Alyas were wanted to WahCantt Police in dacoity and robbery cases and they were proclaimed offenders. The gangsters had links with criminals gangs in Afghanistan. He said that the captors had hired a big house in Baqar Colony for the purpose adding they were harden criminals and confessed of committing 11 heinous crimes including armed robberies, dacoities, mugging, car snatching. He said that they were active in Wah, Taxila and different areas of Rawalpindi. The police recovered snatched vehicles and firearms from their custody and started investigation, he added.
SSP SardarMaqsood Khan led the team comprising DSP RanaTaifoorAkhtar, SHO (Civil Lines) Karim Nawaz, SHO (Airport) Rashid Ahmad, sub inspectors Jahangir Bhatti (InchargeTariqabadChawki), Muhammad Amin and GhulamShabbir which recovered the kidnapped student, he added.
