Karachi: 4 shopkeepers sent to jail for overcharging
KARACHI: The Magistrates of CDGK under the directives of District Coordination Officer, City District Government Karachi (CDGK), JavedHanif Khan, carried out surprised raids in different towns and sent four shopkeepers to jail for selling food items on excessive rates on Tuesday. During the last three days the magistrates have imposed a total fine of Rs280,850 on 258 shopkeepers. The CDGK has warned the traders and shopkeepers to sale utility items on rates fixed by the government. The crackdown against profiteering has begun under which magistrates of city government are checking the prices of foods and other utility items in every town and the over chargers are facing fines and jail sentence. Any complain in this regard can be registered at the office of the Additional EDO Revenue or DDO Revenue of concerned town or on 1339.
