7 robbery, 5 car theft cases in Islamabad in a week
ISLAMABAD: Seven robbery and five carjacking cases were reported to different police stations of the city during the last week. According to the data gathered by the Daily Times, seven robbery, five car lifting and two murder cases and one case each of mugging and kidnapping were reported to the city police stations last week. Sihala and Golra police stations each registered two robbery cases, Kohsar Police Station one case each of murder and robbery and Shalimar Police Station one case each of car lifting and kidnapping.
Margalla Police Station registered one case of car lifting, Koral and Industrial Area police stations each registered one case of car lifting, Sabzi Mandi police station registered one case each of mobile phone and jewellery snatching and Nilore police station registered one murder case.
A police official said due to poor security arrangements by the highups of Islamabad police public property was increasingly becoming insecure with every passing day.
He said robberies and car lifting incidents would further increase if they failed to make any special plan for the arrest of organised robbers’ gangs operating in the city.
He said it was responsibility of the police highups to improve working of their department to provide protection to the life and property of residents. He said there was no cell to monitor performance of police stations, which was the main reason for increasing crime rate in the city.
He said most of the police stations avoided registration of a number of cases to show good performance, which was encouraging the criminals.
