Khairpur: Solangi tribe chieftain, 3 guards killed
KHAIRPUR: The chieftain of the Solangi tribe, along with his three guards, was killed in the limits of the Obaro police here on Saturday. Police sources said that Aslam Khan Solangi was on his way to Ghotki from Machko in his car when gunmen fired at his vehicle in village Mir Koash. Kalo, Soomar and Kabil were his three guards who were killed along with him. The sources said that the CNG cylinder of the car exploded when a bullet hit it. The bodies of the deceased were burnt by the fire caused by the explosion of the cylinder.
The police sources said that the Solangi and Koash tribes had developed an enmity over the killing of two Koash tribesmen in a police encounter in the Punjab. Some Koash tribesmen had lodged an FIR against the Solangi chieftain, alleging that their men were killed on his orders. The police termed the incident a target killing by the Koash tribesmen, saying they had vacated their area before killing the Solangi chieftain and his guards.
DPO Ghotki Javed Ahmed Jiskani said the police raided village Mir Koash to arrest the accused but found they had vacated the area.
He said the bodies were dispatched to Machko. He assured the people of the Solangi tribe that the killers of their head would be arrested at the earliest.
Meanwhile, two people were killed and seven injured in a road accident here. The clerics of Pir Pagara were returning to Khipro from Pir Jo Goth when their pick-up overturned near Choundiko town in Khairpur.
A 12-year-old boy Khuda Bakhsh was also killed in the accident. Separately, in a collision between a tractor and a truck, Abdul Jabbar Bhohio and Abdul Majid were injured.
