Rawalpindi: ATC adjourns hearing in Aziz, suspected terrorists cases
RAWALPINDI: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) No II Judge Sakhi Muhammad Kahoot on Saturday adjourned hearing into former premier Shaukat Aziz attack and 12 suspected terrorists cases till January 13. The court is trying MaulviImtiaz and Muhammad Usman to determine their alleged involvement in an attempt to assassinate Aziz in a suicide bomb attack on July 30, 2004 during his election campaign at Jaffar Village, Fatehjang Road. Seven people were killed and about 70 injured, while Aziz remained unhurt in the bombing. Meanwhile, the ATC No II adjourned hearing into the case of 12 suspected terrorists till January 13. The court is trying 12 suspects including IntkhabAbbasi, Abid Khan, Muhammad Ishaq, Muhammad Qabir, Qamaruzaman, Zafar Ali, Muhammad Zameer, Muhammad Toqueer, Muhammad Sajad, Abdul Sattar, Farhan Mehmood and Arshad Mehmood to determine their involvement in a plot to carry out attacks on high profile personalities and important buildings of security agencies.
Sadiqabad police had arrested the suspects in June last year, when they were allegedly plotting to carry out attacks to create law and order situation. The police also claimed seizure of three bomb-laden vehicles and other explosive material from their possession.
