2 killed, journalist’s house blown up in Swat
PESHAWAR: Suspected Taliban shot dead two people in Swat on Monday, while a journalist said his house was blown up five days ago. AFP reported one of the two dead people was a female dancer who did not heed the Taliban’s warnings to abandon her profession, local officials said. The bodies of the two civilians shot dead on Monday were dumped in the valley’s main town, Mingora, a security official said on condition of anonymity. Meanwhile, journalist Hameedullah told Daily Times on Monday his house in Swat was blown up by unidentified men.
The Shakar Dara village in Matta tehsil was vacated of residents last week after security forces launched an operation to clear Taliban from the area. The residents were allowed to return on Monday after the troops’ negotiations with local elders.
Upon returning, Hameedullah found his house had been razed to the ground. Assailants had also torched Hameedullah’s shop in Mingora last year.
