Islamabad: 3-year-old boy recovered from captors
ISLAMABAD: The Golra Police have recovered a 3-year-old boy kidnapped for ransom and arrested four captors, SP (West) Nasir Aftab said in a press conference here Wednesday. He claimed that the captors demanded Rs3 million as ransom for safe release of the boy, who was kidnapped on January 5 (Monday) from Dhoke Kashmirian, G-12/4, Islamabad. Disclosing the details, the SP said that Muhammad Khalid Khattak, a resident of Dhoke Kashmirian, lodged a complaint with the Golra Police Station stating that his 3-year-old son, Zain Khalid, had gone missing on January 5 at about 5.00p.m. He said that the police took up the case and started investigation.
He said that SSP Islamabad Captain (r) Ahmad Latif directed him to devise a strategy for recovery of the boy and arrest of persons involved in the crime. Following the direction, he constituted a team headed by Captain (r)Liaquat Ali Malik, ASP (Sadar Circle), while the other members of the team were SHO (Shalimar) Inspector Ghulam Muhammad Baqir, SHO (Golra) Inspector Rana Pervaiz Akhtar and SI Fayyaz Shanwari.
The SP said that the team, initiating the investigation detained a suspect, Mukammal Khan, who was nephew of the complainant. During interrogation, the suspect disclosed that four captors riding a black Pajero picked him along with the boy after holding him at gunpoint and later threw him out of the vehicle near Nust campus and took the boy away with them. They, later, demanded Rs3 million ransom for release of the boy, he told the police.
On further interrogation, the complainant and neighbours confirmed that Mukammal Khan took away the child from home without any reason and later staged ‘a drama of his kidnapping’.
Consequently, he was arrested and police obtained his physical remand. During the course of investigation, he confessed that he kidnapped the child and disclosed the identity of his three other accomplices.
Later, the police conducted a raid on their hideout at New Shakrial, Islamabad, and recovered the boy, arresting the other accomplices of Mukammal Khan, identified as Aman Ullah, Muhammad Imran and YasirMahmood.
The police have obtained two-day physical remand of the four accused, the SP said adding that further investigations are underway.
Inspector General of Police Islamabad Qalb-e-Abbas and SSP Islamabad Captain (r) Ahmad Latif appreciated the performance of the police team and announced cash reward with Commendation Certificates for its members, the SP concluded.
