Rawalpindi: Accused in gang-rape case remanded
RAWALPINDI: A civil court here on Monday sent an accused in a gang–rape case into police custody for a two–day physical remand. The court directed police to produce the accused before the court on January 14. The accused, Muhammad Ashraf alias ‘Mullah’, was produced before the court on Monday. The Koral Police Station had registered a case against Adnan Yousaf, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Afzal and Fauji Fiyaz for allegedly kidnapping Muhammad Iqbal and his younger sister, Sughran Bibi, from Khanna Dak on gunpoint on January 3, 2009. They brought them to an unknown place where they gang raped the girl. After gang rape they locked both brother and sister in a room and fled away from the scene.
The police said, DSP Malik Muhammad Mumtaz formed different police teams to arrest the culprits. The police teams raided different places and during a raid arrested main accused in the case, Muhammad Ashraf, on January 11. The police said that other rapists would be arrested soon.
