Karachi: Lawyers involved in gang-rape granted bail
KARACHI: Additional District and Sessions Judge, East, Sanaullah Ghori, granted bail against a surety of Rs100,000 each to two lawyers allegedly involved in the rape of a Christian girl. The incident took place in November last year. The accused lawyers, Mohammed Kaukab Ziauddin and Nayyer Ziauddin, were in jail custody. They were released on Tuesday on bail. The two men are brothers. They were arrested for the gang–rape an 18-year-old girl who had left Gujranwala along with her younger sister, reportedly to embrace Islam.
On November 17, 2008, the two sisters, who at that time belonged to the Christian community, left their home and reached the Gujranwala railway station where they met a Karachi-based family.
The police said the two sisters came to Karachi on November 18. Later, the lawyers, whose families were out of town, both raped the 18–year–old girl.
