Karachi: SNF worker given bail
KARACHI: A judicial magistrate (south) on Tuesday granted bail to an activist of the Sindh National Front, Anwar Gujjar, in two cases against the surety bond of Rs50,000 each. The police arrested Anwar Gujjar in connection with an attack allegedly made by the SNF activists on a Sindhi newspaper`s office in Clifton and threatening its staff with dire consequences for not publishing an article of Mumtaz Bhutto. A case (FIR01/09) was lodged under Sections 147, 148, 149, 506B, 452, 504 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Dr Khair Mohammad, the managing editor of the daily Awami Awaz, at Frere police station. Later, the police claimed that they had recovered illegal weapons on a lead given by the suspect and registered another case under Section 13-E of the Arms Ordinance.
