Rawalpindi: 4 gangs operating in Airport area busted
RAWALPINDI: Police have busted four gangs and apprehend their 16 members allegedly involved in various cases of burglary, mugging, robbery and mobile snatching in the posh areas of Police Station (PS) Airport. This was disclosed by City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Rao Muhammad Iqbal in a press conference at Police lines here on Wednesday. Extending the details of the operation, the CPO told that rising criminal activities in the posh areas falling in the limits of Airport Police Station have become a great challenge for police.
He said that he besides directing the Station House Officers (SHO) of the concerned area also gave task to Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) to control the increasing crime ratio in the area.
CPO further informed that he also constituted a special team headed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operation Sardar Maqsood, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raja Taifoor and other senior police officials.
The CIA and local police initiated an operation against the criminals and succeeded in busting four gangs and apprehended their 16 members besides recovering gold jewellery worth Rs 0.6 million, 17 cell phones, over Rs 1 million, eight pistols, 65 rounds and three daggers from their possession,” he added.
The CPO said that arrested gangsters include Muhammad Abid, Muhammad Ilyas, Naseem Abbas, Shahid, Nadeem Ahmad, Muhammad Ashraf, KhurumShahzad, Maqsood Anwar, Ifrahim, Ahmad Ali, HameedMasseh, AsifMasseh, Mudasir Abbas, Tariq Mehmood, Muhammad Saqib, Muhammad Asad, Qaser Khan and Shahzad alias Dado.
Rao told that during preliminary investigations the arrested gangsters revealed their alleged connection in around 28 different incidents of burglary, mugging, mobile snatching and robbery. He expressed hoped that during the investigation period police would be able to make another major breakthrough.
He said that police have registered cases against the accused and started investigations.
Capital Police bust two gangs, recover stolen properties, weapons
Federal Capital Police have busted two gangs comprising five criminals involved in robberies and recovered stolen items worth millions of rupees and weapons.
Addressing a press conference here at CIA headquarters on Wednesday, SSP Capt. (Retd) Ahmed Latif said that these criminals were involved in looting people at gunpoint. The police also recovered 14 mobile phones, gold ornaments, wrist– watches, weapons and vehicle used for robbery purpose.
He said that on the directions of Inspector General of Police Kalb-i-Abbas, the task was assigned to SP Investigation Sajid Kiyani and SP (West) Nasir Aftab to control the robberies and other crimes in the Capital.
Accordingly, police teams headed by In-charge CIA Bashir Ahmad Noon were constituted which arrested two persons of a notorious gang and recovered a car MR–567 with ten fake number plates, one laptop computer, one iron, one blanket, twelve mobile phones, 15 gold bangles, gold jewellery and weapons.
They have confessed looting ten houses only in Islamabad which include the houses of Akram Zaheer House No. 24, St. No 98, Sector G-9/4 Islamabad, Mst. Rehana Perveen, Mian Double Road sector G-11/3, Nauman Ashraf, House No. 156, St. No 60, Sector G-9/4, Kaleem Ahmed, House No. 112, St. No. 885, Sector G-8/1, Hussain Ahmed, House No. 339, St. No. 441 Sector G-9/1, Fazal Elahi Awan, House No. 852 St. No. 20 Sector G-10/1 Islamabad, Muhammad Nasir, House No. 66 St. No. 2 Sector G–11/1, Mushtaq Ahmed House No. 642, St No. 8, Sector G-01/1, Jan Muhammad, House No.719, St No. 103 Sector G-9/4, Abdul Majeed Tariq, House No. 351 St. No. 57 Sector G-10/4.
Meanwhile, the other gang members arrested by the CIA police were identified as Sher Dil s/o Khushal resident of Mardan, Abdul Saadiq s/o Rehman resident of sector G-11/1 and Saleem alias Koki s/o Abdul Majeed resident of Dhok Kashmirian Islamabad.
They confessed entering the houses by breaking the lock. Initially, they confessed looting of valuables including 14 wrist watches, two mobile phones, gold ornaments, TV, DVD from the houses of Yaqoob Ali, House No. 595 B, St. No. 6 sector G-11/1 and Saqib Mushtaq, House No. 1315 St. No. 58 resident of sector G-11/2.
