Islamabad: Girl murdered after rape in capital
ISLAMABAD: An unidentified girl, aged 10, was kidnapped, raped and finally killed near Rawal Lake, police sources told ‘The News’ here on Thursday. The culprits threw the dead body of the victim in the vegetation growth. Police sources informed that the girl was raped after tying her hands behind with rope. The girl’s dead body was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for autopsy.
Sources said that wounds inflicted with a sharp weapon were visible on the girl’s face, cheeks and neck, indicating torture during the offence. They said that the victim was taken to the spot in a vehicle and thrown along the main road as marks of car tyres were visible on the scene.
Secretariat Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police Liaquat Niazi, when contacted by ‘The News,’ said that they were trying to ascertain the identity of the victim. “The aspect of rape cannot be ruled out,” he said. He added that external signs indicate that she was raped before her murder. “We have requested the PIMS medico–legal officer to examine the rape aspect too, the DSP said.
Dr. Farrukh, medico–legal officer (MLO) at the PIMS, when contacted by ‘The News,’ said that he has not received any application or verbal request from police for conducting the autopsy. He said that the postmortem of a victim is conducted only after receiving a request from police. He said that the dead body has been placed in the cold room of the mortuary.
According to sources, this is the second offence of the same nature during this week, as earlier an eight–year–old girl was killed after rape. Her dead body was found in a drain located in the area in the jurisdiction of Golra Police Station.
