Lahore: Man recovered from police detention, freed
LAHORE: District and Sessions Judge Syed Nasir Ali Shah on Friday set a citizen at liberty after his recovery from the custody of the Lower Mall police. The recovery orders were issued by the judge on a habeas corpus petition filed by the detainee’s relative, Seman Masih, a resident of Samanabad, alleging that the police had been keeping his relative, Faraz Tariq, in their illegal custody for the last few days. He further stated in his petition that his Faraz was not required by in any criminal case.
He prayed before the court that a bailiff be deputed for the recovery of Faraz. The court bailiff raided the Lower Mall police station where the Faraz was present in the investigation lock–up in handcuffs. The bailiff submitted in his report before the court that the police had not mentioned his arrest in the FIR register. Later, the judge in the light of bailiff’s report acquitted him.
