Karachi: Robber killed, 3 arrested in separate incidents
KARACHI: A robber was killed, while two others were arrested in separate police encounters in the city on Monday. The first encounter took place at Sector 9-E, within the jurisdiction of Orangi Town Police Station. The encounter happened when two police officers, Fateh Ali and Haji Khan, were on routine patrol. The police claim that seeing the two robbers breaking the ban imposed on pillion riding, the officers signaled them to stop the motorcycle, upon which the robbers opened fire.
As a result, Ali sustained bullet wounds, while Khan managed to shoot and kill one of the robbers and arrest his accomplice, Asghar. The police claim to have recovered two TT pistols and the motorcycle. The body of the deceased robber was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was identified as Saifullah, 30, a resident of Durrani Goth, Sector 15, Orangi Town. The police believe that the robbers were intending to rob a bank when they were signaled to stop their motorcycle. The police have registered an FIR, no 77/09.
In another incident, the Ferozabad police arrested an accused named Asad who was wanted in various robbery cases. He was arrested after an encounter near Khalid Bin Waleed Road. Asad was injured during the encounter and, presently, he is in the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre ICU. A loaded pistol with a number of bullets was recovered from his possession.
The Liaquatabad police arrested a man named Jibran after an encounter on the Main Liaquatabad Road. The accused Jibran was arrested when he and his unidentified accomplice were trying to flee the scene after snatching a motorcycle from private school administrator Moin, said SHO Iftikhar Ahmed. Jibran has been involved in various street crimes, the officer added.
