QUETTA: Security forces on Tuesday arrested 18 illegal Afghan immigrants in Chaman, officials said. These people had crossed the border illegally and entered in Pakistan without any legal documents. They wanted to proceed to Quetta and other parts of the country.
LAHORE: The National Highways & Motorway Police claimed to have arrested two people near Akhtarabad and recovered an illegal pistol from them. NH&MP Beat 14 chief patrolling officer Shafiq Joia observed the suspicious motorcyclist violating one–way rules at midnight. The Police officer asked them to stop but the riders left the motorcycle and ran away towards fields.
LAHORE: SSP Operations Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed had said that Lahore police have arrested two people involved in making fake currency notes, tickets and identity cards and recovered currency notes, stamps and other documents worth Rs75 million from their possession. Addressing a press conference on Monday at the Police Lines, Qila Gujjar Singh, the SSP said ring leader Muhammad Ashraf of Gulshan–e-Ravi and one of his accomplices Muhammad Akram of Shafiqabad were arrested from Moon Market, Iqbal Town, while their third accomplice Farasat Chohan had absconded.
ISLAMABAD: District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Abdul Qayyum here on Monday acquitted an accused, Muhammad Ansar, in a narcotics case after imposing a fine of Rs1,000 on him as he has already undergone his sentence after confession. Muhammad Ansar was arrested on November 20, 2008, after recovery of 275 grams of ‘charas’ from his procession. A case was registered against him at the Golra Police Station, Islamabad, under Section 9-b. The judge acquitted the accused and dismissed the case.
LAHORE: The Anti–Vehicle Lifting Staff of Model Town police division on Monday killed two criminals, involved in more than 49 incidents of car lifting and other crimes, during an alleged encounter and recovered a stolen car and two pistols from them. SP CRO Jahanzeb Nazir Khan had constituted a special team to arrest the criminals.
KARACHI: The Administrative Judge (AJ) of the Anti–Terrorism Courts in Karachi remanded a suspect facing kidnapping and murder charges to police custody till February 12. Zeeshan was arrested by the police on charges of kidnapping his son–in–law Saghir from the Korangi area on January 31, and later killing him. Police said that the accused demanded Rs10 million for the release of the abducted, and failing to receive the ransom, he killed him and dumped his body in Landhi.
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday disposed of a petition filed for recovery of missing doctor Abdur Razzaq of Rawalpindi Railways hospital, after the government informed the court that he was arrested by the police for allegedly planning suicide attacks on Pakistan Day parade on March 23. Raja Muhammad Aleem Abbasi, standing counsel for the government, presented this information to a single bench of the IHC, consisting of Chief Justice (CJ) Sardar Muhammad Aslam, hearing the petition of Afzoona Kausar, wife of Dr Abdur Razzaq.
KARACHI: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Sindh have busted a network of six bandits and rounded up four of them, including the ring–leader, who is a police constable. Arms and other looted items were recovered from their possession. The accused men were involved in looting foreigners, including guests of City Nazim Mustafa Kamal who had come from the United States. SSP Mohammad Aslam Khan of the CID Sindh said they had received several complaints regarding looting of foreigners.
UMERKOT: A constable has been booked for negligence. The jailer Sub–Jail Umerkot, Ghulam Hussain Mangrio, complained that a prisoner, Naban Shar, who pretended to have fallen ill, escaped from the sub–jail due to negligence of police constable, Punhoon Meghwar, who was on duty. The prisoner, Naban Shar, escaped from the jail on Saturday morning at a time when sanitation staff was busy cleaning the jail premises.
RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Police has recovered 500 kites and 12 cases of string during a raid and arrested the shopkeeper for violating the Kite Act. Police arrested Babar, from ‘Banni’ area and a case has been registered against him.
