Karachi: Body of missing man found, relative held
KARACHI: A 30–year–old man was killed on Saturday within the jurisdiction of the Awami Colony Police Station. The police, however, recovered the man’s body from the Korangi Khaddi area. The deceased Zeeshan Sharif, a shopkeeper and resident of Landhi was reported missing on January 30. His family received a call from a kidnapper demanding ransom money for his release. Sharif’s family then informed the police and said they suspected their relative Saghir was behind the kidnapping. The police then took Saghir into custody and commenced interrogation.
The culprit, during interrogation, confessed of committing the crime and helped the police locate the Sharif’s body which was concealed in a metal box near the Korangi Khaddi area. The culprit revealed that he had kidnapped Sharif for monetary purposes but killed him after Sharif recognized him. Saghir tortured Sharif and later shot him. According to the family, the kidnapper had asked for Rs 10 million in ransom, but the culprit said that he had demanded Rs 2.5 million. Sharif was the father of a three–month–old daughter.
