Kidnapped for not influencing wife
MIRPURKHAS, Jan 5: A minority community man has appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan, President and Prime Minister to help recover his kidnapped son from the clutches of influential people and order action in accordance to law. Dawn News reported that, the Aggrieved father, Saroop Chand of Phuladiyoon, during a press conference on Tuesday called upon the concerned authorities to immediately get his son Doulatram Malhi released from the captivity of powerful people.
He told journalists that Doulatram Malhi, a cloth merchant, married Goma in 2001 and the couple with their two sons were residing in Umerkot town. It was after some time that Goma embraced Islam and changed her name to Zainab after which Doulatram Malhi left her and she married a Muslim man, Arshad Qureshi, he said.
Saroop Chand alleged the relatives of Goma (now Zainab) of kidnapping Doulatram in October last for his refusal to force Goma into reverting back to her former religion and denouncing the second matrimony. He said that the kidnappers Lal Malhi and his brother Chothram Malhi, Lekhraj Malhi and Jhamandas Malhi had shifted their captive to some unknown place and he lodged an FIR in this regard with the Umerkot police who were yet to take any action.
He further said the nominated accused tried to kidnap his second son Chandar Kumar, one month after the kidnapping of his elder son while police were reluctant in taking an action, perhaps because of their influence and bribe.[google-map]
