Four convicted in kidnapping and murder case
Karachi: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) awarded death sentence to a man having found him guilty of kidnapping and murdering a clearing agent in June 2008. The court also sentenced three of his accomplices, including two women, to life imprisonment after charges against them were proved.
According to The News, Muhsin Raza, Adnan Hyder, Shazia and Nazia were prosecuted for kidnapping Sohrab Khan from the airport area Karachi for ransom on June 21, 2008. According to prosecution, the defendants received Rs 80,000 as ransom from the abductee and later killed him leaving his body in his vehicle.
Special Public Prosecutor Mohammad Khan Buriro submitted that the prosecution placed ten witnesses to prove the guilt of the defendants. The ATC headed by Justice Syed Hasan Shah Bukhari observed that the prosecution proved its case against the defendants who kidnapped Khan for ransom and later accused Raza killed him in cold blood.
The court sentenced the main defendant Raza to death for kidnapping and murdering Khan with the directive to attach property worth Rs 500,000 to the government. The court also directed him to pay Rs 250,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased.
The court also awarded life imprisonment to the remaining three defendants with the directive to attach their property worth Rs 200,000.[google-map]
