Two kidnappers die in encounter
ABBOTTABAD: Police claimed to have killed two kidnappers in an encounter in Silhed area in the limits of Cantonment Police Station on Monday.
Speaking to The News reporters, Deputy Inspector General Police (DIG) Hazara Region, Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah said a gang of kidnappers riding a car (APC-2009) were signalled by the police at Silhed area to halt but the accused opened fire on the cops. The police returned the fire killing two accused, Azizur Rehman of Badaber and Gul Muhammad of Peshawar city, while their two other accomplices managed to escape in their car. He said the police closed all the exit points to capture the accused.
The police official claimed the gang had kidnapped for ransom Adnan son of Abdul Malik, a notable trader, and kept him in Abbottabad at the house of Zakir Shah and Muhammad Abdullah, residents of Dir district.
Due to strict surveillance by the police, the accused took the kidnapped boy to Takhtbhai in Mardan district and freed him there. He said the accused escaped to Abbottabad and met their fate at the police checkpoint at Silhed during the encounter.[google-map]
