Youth killed by bandits
KARACHI: A young man was gunned down in a Korangi locality on Tuesday allegedly by bandits, who opened fire apparently in panic while snatching valuables from the victim’s father and sister, police said.
As reported in Dawn News, they said the incident occurred in Korangi’s sector 48-D. Mushtaq was driving his daughter home on his motorbike, when two men on a motorbike started chasing them at Korangi 2½.
“Both father and daughter were at the corner of their house’s street when the motorcyclists wearing helmets caught up with them, Mushtaq accelerated the motorbike and finally reached in front of his home, where he get off the motorbike and ring the doorbell. As they were collecting the cellphone and cash from Mushtaq and the purse from his daughter, Mushatq’s son Altaf responding to the doorbell ring opened the door only to find his father and sister being held at gunpoint,” said Sub-Inspector Huzoor Bakhsh Solangi, the SHO of the Zaman Town police station.
He said that initial findings suggested that on seeing Altaf, the two suspected bandits opened fire in panic and one of the bullets hit the young man in the spinal cord.
“The gunmen fled without taking along the cash, mobile phone and purse. The victim was rushed to hospital, but he died on the way,” he added.
