Sarafa Bazaar robbers arrested, sub inspector involved
Karachi: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on Thursday announced that they arrested six people including a sub inspector, on January 12, who were involved in the Sarafa Bazaar robbery and recovered eight kilograms of gold and jewellery from their possession.
According to The News’ details, the police party of SIU was on a snap checking in the Kharadar police limits on January 12 and signaled to stop some motorcycle riders, but upon seeing the police the suspects opened fire. The police retaliated and arrested both the accused and recovered two TT pistols and a motorcycle.
During the initial interrogation the accused disclosed their names as Muhammad Shuaib and Noman and admitted that they were involved in the Sarafa Bazar robbery.
The accused also disclosed that they along with Aga Nasir, Muhammad Kashif, Shahzad and Javed were also involved in the robbery.
The police on this tip raided different parts of the city and arrested the accused Aga Nasir, Muhammad Kashif and Shahzad, while they were escaping towards the Punjab province.
The accused disclosed that they gave the gold to a Sub Inspector, Abdul Sattar who is posted in the Kalri police station. The SIU team nabbed the inspector and recovered seven kilogram of gold ornaments.
