Police officials suspended for releasing suspects
KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister, Zulfiqar Mirza has suspended a Superintendent of Police (SP) and a Sub-Inspector (SI) for letting go dacoity suspects from the Darakhshan police station.
Sources in Police department told The News Tuesday that an FIR was lodged on the complaint of a Defence resident Tauseef against dacoity and kidnapping incident and he had nominated two persons, i.e. Hidayatullah and Younus Afzal in the case.
The Darakhshan police arrested some suspects and took them to the investigating unit.
During this period, SP Sindh Reserve Police (SRP) Hyderabad, Altaf Hussain Leghari came to the police station and asked for releasing Hidayatullah and others.
SI Amir of the Darakhshan police station released the suspects on personal bond on SP Leghari’s request. However, in the meantime, Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza was informed and he rushed to the police station and summoned the SP along with the released suspects.
He directed the police to again arrest the suspects immediately and suspended SP Altaf Hussain Leghari and SI Amir.[google-map]
