Customs recover heroin from Canada-bound parcel
KARACHI: Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC) of Pakistan Customs claimed Wednesday seizing 520gms of heroin from a Canada-bound courier parcel at the Jinnah International Airport, the Daily Times reported.
The DEC personnel on a tip-off that heroin was being smuggled out of the country hidden in courier packages, intercepted the package at a courier firm.
The parcel was booked by Areeba Enterprises through Ahmad Ali in the name of Robert J Girardi in Ontario, Canada while the contents were declared as “thread cones”.
Upon thorough examination, the staff recovered fine quality heroin cleverly concealed in the lowest layers of thread cones.
Meanwhile, a prosecution case was registered under the Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997 and efforts were underway to apprehend the people involved in the offence.
