Mob kills bandit for injuring political activist
KARACHI: Furious people gunned down an alleged bandit Wednesday when he was trying to escape after spraying bullets on a political activist in limits of Alfalah Police Station.
Daily Times quoted police officials as saying that a bandit – Siddique Idrees, 26, involved in several criminal cases – was looting people on a street in Rafah-e-Aam Society in Malir, when some victims raised hue and cry. The area residents gathered at the scene and cornered Idrees, who opened fire on them, injuring a Karachi-based political party’s Khurram Ashraf, 28.
As the bandit tried to escape, someone from the mob shot him, the officials added.
According to the doctors at the hospital where the alleged bandit and the political activist were taken, Idrees died during treatment, while Ashraf’s condition was critical as he had received a bullet in the head.
Police said they were looking for the culprit who shot Idrees.[google-map]
