Four arrested for abetting terrorists with fake documents
The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Sindh police claimed arresting four members of a gang, which used to provide logistical support to terrorists belonging to the tribal areas as well as a neighbouring country.
The CID disclosed the identities of the arrested men as Muhammad Hanif, Imran, Ahmed Hussain and Mohammad Arif Shafiq.
CID officials said they have seized hundreds of fake computerised national identity cards, passports and birth certificates from these men during a raid.
CID (Operations) SSP Fayyaz Khan said his team on a tip-off raided the hideout of the culprits in the Manghopir area. “The arrested men provided fake documents to militants from Waziristan, Swat and Afghanistan to help them escape abroad,” said Khan.
“This group’s mastermind is Hanif who has been involved in this business for ten years and provided such documents to various militants.” Hanif was also arrested in the past over possession of fake Iranian documents and currency.
The police official said that cases have been registered against the men and further investigation was underway.
