Impostors rob Japanese citizen
KARACHI: Three impostors, posing as police officials, robbed a Japanese citizen in the Artillery Maidan area of Karachi here Monday.
Police sources told The News that Masa Kazu, a Japanese national, had arrived in Karachi Monday afternoon.
Kazu is the employee of a private firm in Japan and came to Karachi on an official visit. From Karachi Airport, he hired a taxi and left him for Club Road, searching for a hotel to stay.
While looking for a hotel on the road, he was stopped by three men in a car. The unidentified culprits told Kazu that they were policemen and showed him their IDs. They then asked Kazu to show his passport and luggage.
During the search, the men asked for Kazu’s bag for checking which he dutifully handed them. The suspects then sat inside the car and fled from the spot while throwing away his passport.
The victim later went to the Artillery Maidan police station and narrated the entire episode. He said that his important documents were taken along with Pakistani currency, Japanese Yen and US dollars worth millions.
Police has registered a case in this regard.
