Police apprehend 27 gamblers in Lahore
LAHORE: Iqbal Town Division Police launched a special crackdown against gamblers, brothel houses and drug smugglers Monday arresting 27 gamblers besides seizing thousands of rupees from their possession, The Nation reported.
The arrested men later were identified as Javed Chargha, Amjad Nagra, Jamal Masih, Abdul Aziz, Nazar, Sheraz, Owais, Imtiaz, Shafiq, Rizwan, Mohammad Khan, Nadeem and Mujahid.
As per details, SP Iqbal Town Cap (Retd) Suhail Chaudhry issued a special circular in the names of various PS SHOs including Sherakot, Nawankot, Sanda, Millat Park and Iqbal Town and ordered them for taking strict action against the gamblers.
Suhail Chaudhry maintained that the crackdown will last till the police make last arrest.
Meanwhile, Gujjarpura police arrested three accused including Jahangir alias Chitta and his accomplices Ijaz and Nasir Ali red handed when they were trying to flee after they snatched mobile phones from different citizens.
The accused have also confessed 26 criminal acts committed in separate localities of the city including PS Gujjarpura, Mughalpura, Shalimar, Misri Shah, Civil Lines, Race Course, Mazang, Lytton Road, Qilla Gujjar Singh and Garhi Shahu.
Further investigations are underway.
