MPA resigned for having fake degree, SC informed
ISLAMABAD: In the second case in a week, another legislator resigned from his office after the Supreme Court found his degree fake.
Member of National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti had resigned from his office last week after his degree was found out fake.
This time, Member of Punjab Assembly (MPA), Sardar Allah Wasaya Chunnu Leghari informed the apex court of his resignation for possessing a fake degree, Daily Times reported Wednesday.
Following his resignation, the six-member larger bench of the SC comprising of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmed, Justice Tariq Pervez, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, and Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to issue a notification in this regard and make public the schedule for the by-polls in PP-259.
Allah Wasaya’s election from PP-259 was challenged by Muhammad Khalil, who accused him of graduation on fake matriculation and intermediate degrees from Bahawalpur Islamia University.
