UN delays release of BB murder report
UNITED NATIONS: A United Nations official said Tuesday that the Commission probing into the murder of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto would delay release of its findings until April 15 at the request of Government of Pakistan.
UN spokesman Martin Nesirky told a press briefing, “The Secretary General has accepted an urgent request by the President of Pakistan to delay the presentation of the report until April 15”, DawnNews reported Wednesday.
The UN panel was scheduled to present its report to UN chief Ban Ki-moon Wednesday. The report by the panel “is now complete and ready to be delivered,” Nesirky said.
He added the report would be made public, but would not be shown to the Pakistani government before April 15. Ban himself had not yet read the document, he said.
