Life sentence for 9 kidnappers
KARACHI: Nine people were slapped sentence of life imprisonment by different courts Wednesday in kidnapping for ransom case.
The News reported Thursday that an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) sentenced six persons to life imprisonment in a kidnapping for ransom case of a girl.
Another court gave life imprisonment to three people after finding them guilty in a kidnapping for ransom case.
According to details, Sajid, Amjad, Jaffer, Shaukat, Riaz and Ramzan kidnapped an engineering student, Esha, from Mubeena Town and demanded Rs10million ransom from her family. However, Police successfully recovered the girl besides arresting them.
The courts, besides announcing life sentence for the kidnappers, also slapped Rs50,000 as fine on each of them.
Another ATC awarded life imprisonment to three abductors; Mohammad Arif, Zeeshan, and Tariq; for kidnapping a five-year-old Hassan from New Karachi area on November 24, 2009.
As per details, the abductors kept the boy hostage in a house located in Surjani Town and asked for Rs5million ransom from the parents. Police carried out a successful crackdown during which they arrested the kidnappers and recovered the boy.
