Over 12 held on funds peculation in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD: The Anti Corruption Establishment arrested over 12 people, including five contractors, Wednesday in a corruption scam of TMA Iqbal Town in Faisalabad.
The Business Recorder reported Thursday that the arrested persons were allegedly involved in misappropriation of government funds to the tune of millions of rupees.
The Anti Corruption Establishment identified the arrested persons as TMO Zafarullah, TO (I&S) Muzammil Hussain, ATO Maqbool Saleemi, Sub Engineer Khalid Mushtaq, Draftsman Muhammad Aslam, head clerk Asghar Ali, accounts clerk Bashir Ahmed and contractors Nasir Butt, Abdul Waheed Khokhar, Muhammad Saeed, Anjum Majeed and Adeel Butt.
On the directives of Government of Punjab, District Co-ordination Officer (DCO), Saeed Wahla took charge as Administrator Faisalabad and ordered an impartial probe into the fiscal scam. The inquiry committee has found out huge embezzlements in the government funds for the City District Government Faisalabad.
“Rs28.8 million have been misappropriated and TMO Zafarullah, TO Muzammil Hussain, ATO Maqbool Saleemi, Sub Engineer Khalid Mushtaq, Head Clerk Asghar and concerned contractors have been handed over to Anti Corruption after placing them under suspicion”, Liaquat Ali Chattha, Administrator TMA Iqbal Town told media.
