Islamabad: FIA turns heat on human traffickers
ISLAMABAD: According to a press release Thursday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has intensified campaign against human trafficking.
It has registered 295 cases of human smuggling and arrested 156 agents as well as 76 persons declared proclaimed offenders by the courts.
The report sent to Director General FIA Zafrullah Khan by Director FIA Islamabad Zone Hanif Joya said that 156 agents as well as 76 proclaimed offenders have also been rounded up and perused.
Similarly, the circle had initiated 188 inquiries in which 167 have been completed while 305 cases have been sent to courts. In 296 cases the accused have been awarded sentences.
The FIA immigration staff deployed at all international airports in the country have been directed to monitor suspicious passengers and check travel documents carefully.
The FIA Immigration Cell has arrested many who were trying to board different flights on fake travel documents. – PR
